A Chicago Native Protecting The Rights Of People In Her Community
Inspired To Right Injustices
Ari Williams was born and raised in the Englewood area on the south side of Chicago. Watching people of color have their civil rights violated was a part of daily life. Police officers would search homes in the neighborhood without a warrant and regularly stop and frisk black men who happened to be walking down the street. Ari has seen it all. These daily injustices suffered by people of color in her neighborhood inspired Ari to become a criminal defense attorney and fight the injustices that were happening around her.
An Award-Winning Attorney Standing Up For Fellow Chicagoans
In the first decade of her career, Ari was selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list and has been named to The National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40. She has a reputation for fearlessness in the courtroom and is not afraid to police the police. This means fighting civil rights violations with the same commitment and aggressiveness as gun charges, drug violations and traffic violations.
“We, as criminal defense lawyers, are forced to deal with some of the lowest people on earth, people who have no sense of right and wrong, people who will lie in court to get what they want, people who do not care who gets hurt in the process. It is our job–our sworn duty–as criminal defense lawyers, to protect our clients from those people.”
